First place & second place!

Once again, I competed in the Toastmasters International contests this Spring!

The first competition was the “Evaluation Contest”.  This is a contest to see who can best evaluate a given speech.  A test speaker gives a 5 to 7 minute speech and all the contestants hear the speech and take notes.  Then, the contestants are escorted out to make their final evaluations.  Shortly thereafter, each evaluator is brought back in the room, one at a time, to give his or her evaluation.  I was up against four other competitors this year.

And … I won first place!  This is the 4th time I’ve won “Top Speech Evaluator in Northeast Ohio”.

The second competition was the “International Speech Contest”.  In this contest, competitors deliver a 5 to 7 minute speech on a topic of their own choice.  Each speaker is judged for his or her overal impact, message, clarity, organization, originality, physicality, vocal dynamics and use of language.  Again, I was up against four other competitors this year.

And … I won second place!

Two more trophies for the mantle in the family room!

Where do I put the trophy?
