Well, it’s official. As of February 20, I am now as old as Jack Benny. For those of you who don’t know, this means I am 39 years old.
Jack Benny was a famous comedian on radio and TV from the 1930’s and 1960’s. Once he turned 39 years old (in 1933), he stayed 39 forever no matter how old he looked. For example, even when he was 55, he still said he was 39. (This is a trick my mother has pulled for many years.) He died in December 1974, at the age of 39, even though he really was 80 years old. This is my first year at 39. We celebrated the event by going out to eat at a fancy spanish restaurant here on the East side of Cleveland. Sue and I shared a dish of paella and finished the meal with shots of Sangria!
