(Valentine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day is the second largest with 1 billion cards sent, followed by Mother\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day with 150 million.)<\/p>\n<p>According to Hallmark, Christmas cards originated in England in 1843, when Sir Henry Cole commissioned artist John Calcott Horsley to design a card to send to family and friends.
