{"id":9,"date":"2004-11-10T14:17:52","date_gmt":"2004-11-10T22:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/casa-caban\/caban-farm-closing-down-for-the-winter\/"},"modified":"2004-11-10T14:17:52","modified_gmt":"2004-11-10T22:17:52","slug":"caban-farm-closing-down-for-the-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/casa-caban\/caban-farm-closing-down-for-the-winter\/","title":{"rendered":"Caban Farm Closing Down for the Winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caban Farms has officially closed for the winter.\u00c2\u00a0 Even though it&#8217;s only early November, we&#8217;ve already hit below freezing at night.<\/p>\n<p>This past weekend (November 6 &#038; 7) we prepped the roses for winter by covering the root balls and trimming back the canes.\u00c2\u00a0 We tore out the last of the tomato plants, but left the green pepper plants to see how long they will survive.<\/p>\n<p>We also took an idea from Paul the Gardener Guy (&#8220;Gardening by the Yard&#8221; on HGTV).\u00c2\u00a0 We made some compost bags by combining shredded leaves, Blood Meal, dirt and a sprinkle of water into trashbags.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ll leave the bags out for the winter and see what kind of compost we have in the Spring.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, we had a very successful season at Caban Farms.\u00c2\u00a0 Thanks to all for their support!<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Caban Farms has officially closed for the winter.\u00c2\u00a0 Even though it&#8217;s only early November, we&#8217;ve already hit below freezing at night.
