{"id":175,"date":"2007-10-22T23:12:36","date_gmt":"2007-10-23T04:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/the-furry-bambinos\/the-furry-bambinos\/"},"modified":"2007-10-28T13:35:48","modified_gmt":"2007-10-28T18:35:48","slug":"the-furry-bambinos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/the-furry-bambinos\/the-furry-bambinos\/","title":{"rendered":"The Furry Bambinos!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, David and I\u00c2\u00a0adopted three felines!!!\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00c2\u00a0met them\u00c2\u00a0through PAWS (Public Animal Welfare Society), a local animal rescue organization.<\/p>\n<p>PAWS consists of a network of volunteers who serve as &#8220;foster parents&#8221; for a time while permanent homes are being sought for the animals.\u00c2\u00a0 PAWS places animals in two-room &#8220;cages&#8221; in local PetSmart stores for a few days so that the public may view (and of course, fall in love with) animals ready for adoption.\u00c2\u00a0 PAWS gives the kitties temporary names to assist in the adoption process.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"388\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/petsmart1.jpg\" alt=\"petsmart1.jpg\" height=\"235\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"386\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/boardingarea.jpg\" alt=\"boardingarea.jpg\" height=\"289\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday afternoon, David and I went to our local PetSmart just to look at the kitties.\u00c2\u00a0 I had been there once or twice already, and wanted to bring David along to visit with the kitties as well.<\/p>\n<p>We saw &#8220;Silver&#8221;, a grey tabby with yellow eyes, who reminded us very much of our dear Clyde, who passed away in February of this year.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Silver&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0is male\u00c2\u00a0and is about 4 or 5 years old.\u00c2\u00a0 However, Silver weighs only about 12 pounds\u00c2\u00a0according to\u00c2\u00a0PAWS, which makes him\u00c2\u00a0smaller in length and weight than Clyde was.\u00c2\u00a0 Silver also has a white spot on his neck, so it sort of looks like he is wearing a minister&#8217;s collar.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Silver is very sweet and loves to rub up against you.\u00c2\u00a0 Silver was once a pet cat, as he is declawed on his front paws, and it is apparent that he once wore a collar regularly.\u00c2\u00a0 He had been dumped off at a veterinarian&#8217;s office with another cat.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/silver.jpg\" alt=\"silver.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also met and fell in love with &#8220;Wynken&#8221; (male) and &#8220;Blynken&#8221; (female), who are siblings who are about 5 months old.\u00c2\u00a0 They were born under a porch and due to lack of veterinary care, had advanced eye infections while quite young.\u00c2\u00a0 Because of this, Wynken lost his right eye, and Blynken has a small amount of scarring in one of her eyes.\u00c2\u00a0 But it does not affect their ability to get around one bit!\u00c2\u00a0 The foster mother adopted their sister &#8220;Nod&#8221;, who is totally blind.\u00c2\u00a0 According to the foster mother, Nod does not appear to be adversely affected.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, Nod even hunts bugs!<\/p>\n<p>Wynken is a tuxedo kitty.\u00c2\u00a0 His back is mostly black and his belly is mostly white.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/wynken1.jpg\" alt=\"wynken1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Blynken is a brown and goldish tabby.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/blinkin1.jpg\" alt=\"blinkin1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The kittens\u00c2\u00a0are very active.\u00c2\u00a0 They played several rounds of Thundering Herd of Elephants up and down the basement stairs.\u00c2\u00a0 For the time being, we are doing our best to keep the kittens separate from the cat.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Wynken thinks this idea is stupid, and has jumped every barricade we can build.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00c2\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cabanonline.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/barricade.jpg\" alt=\"barricade.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<font size=\"1\">One-eyed &#8220;Wynken&#8221; easily climbed this so-called barricade.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>So for tomorrow while we are at work, the kittens\u00c2\u00a0will be\u00c2\u00a0in the basement, and the cat\u00c2\u00a0will\u00c2\u00a0have\u00c2\u00a0the run of the house.<\/p>\n<p>David and I\u00c2\u00a0are still working on coming up with suitable names for the kitties, once we get to know their personalities better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, David and I\u00c2\u00a0adopted three felines!!!\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00c2\u00a0met them\u00c2\u00a0through PAWS (Public Animal Welfare Society), a local animal rescue organization.
